ISO/UTS reductions
These reductions enable transition from an ISO steep cone to UTS tool holder.
Reductions are manufactured in compliance with valid standards.
A UTS test bar is recommended to be purchased for every reduction. The bar is fitted with an edge with evaluation parameters of X coordinate (tool diameter) and Z (tool length).
These specifications determine the beginning of reduction coordinates.
The coordinates are checked by a calibration laboratory.
Calibrated test bar has two functions.
First, it ensures very accurate setting of the coordinate beginning, based on real dimensions situated to the tool setting area.
Second, it represents a test bar – primary standard, ensuring connection to national standards when assuring ISO standard functions.
If a reduction is used, the effective length of Z coordinate is shortened. With ISO/UTS reductions the shortening varies, see the following table:
